In this post we’ll cover some Chinese vocabulary and constructions that you can use to express your opinion, ask about other people’s opinions, agree, or disagree with someone.
你觉得这个电影怎么样?nǐ jué dé zhè gè diàn yǐng zěn me yàng? What do you think of this film?
Let’s start with some questions that you can ask to find out other people’s opinions.
- 你喜欢这个电影/书吗?
nǐ xǐ huān zhè gè diàn yǐng/ shū má?
Do you like this film? Do you like this book? - 你觉得这首歌如何?你觉得这幅画如何?
nǐ jué dé zhè shǒu gē rú hé? nǐ jué dé zhè fú huà rú hé?
What do you think of this song? What do you think of this painting? - 你对这个话题有什么看法?
nǐ duì zhè gè huà tí yǒu shén me kàn fǎ?
What’s your opinion on this topic?
- 你和我的看法一致吗?
nǐ hé wǒ de kàn fǎ yī zhì má?
Do you agree with me? - 你觉得这篇文章怎么样?
nǐ jué dé zhè piān wén zhāng zěn me yàng?
What did you think of the article? - 这次聚会你感觉怎么样?/ 这节课你感觉怎么样?
zhè cì jù huì nǐ gǎn jué zěn me yàng? / zhè jié kè nǐ gǎn jué zěn me yàng?
How did you like the party? How did you like the class? - 你会把这个书推荐给别人吗?
nǐ huì bǎ zhè gè shū tuī jiàn gěi bié rén má?
Do you recommend this book? - 你那样感觉的原因是什么呢?
nǐ nà yàng gǎn jué de yuán yīn shì shén me ne?
Why do you feel that way? - 请你阐述一下你的观点。
qǐng nǐ chǎn shù yī xià nǐ de guān diǎn.
Please explain your opinion. - 哪部份让你喜欢它呢?请您说明理由。
nǎ bù fèn ràng nǐ xǐ huān tā ne? qǐng nín shuō míng lǐ yóu.
What do you like about it? Please explain why. - 哪部份你不太喜欢?请您说明理由。
nǎ bù fèn nǐ bù tài xǐ huān? qǐng nín shuō míng lǐ yóu.
What don’t you like about it? Please explain why.
我很喜欢那个电影。 wǒ hěn xǐ huān nà gè diàn yǐng. I liked the film very much.
Now let’s look at some expressions that you can use to express that you like something. Some vocabulary that might come in handy is: 很好 hěn hǎo – really good, 太棒了 tài bàng le – great, 有意思 yǒu yì sī – interesting, 超乎想象 chāo hū xiǎng xiàng – fascinating, 很令人愉快 hěn líng rén yú kuài – very enjoyable, 原创的 yuán chuàng de – original, 有逻辑的 yǒu luó jí de – logical.
- 这部电影很不错。
zhè bù diàn yǐng hěn bù cuò.
The film was really great. - 这家餐厅很好吃。
zhè jiā cān tīng hěn hǎo chī.
The restaurant was wonderful. - 这个聚会我觉得很好玩。
zhè gè jù huì wǒ jué dé hěn hǎo wán.
I had a great time at the party. - 这本书超出我的预期。
zhè běn shū chāo chū wǒ de yù qī.
I thought the book was fascinating. - 我觉得这篇文章很有意思。
wǒ jué dé zhè piān wén zhāng hěn yǒu yì sī.
I found the article really interesting. - 我觉得这首歌很好听。
wǒ jué dé zhè shǒu gē hěn hǎo tīng.
I think that this song is really good.
我一点儿也不喜欢这个电影。wǒ yī diǎn ér yě bù xǐ huān zhè gè diàn yǐng. I really didn’t like the film at all.
Now let’s look at some expressions that you can use to express that you don’t like something. Some vocabulary that might come in handy is: 很差 hěn chà – really bad, 糟糕 zāo gāo – terrible, 无聊 wú liáo – boring, 差劲 chà jìn – awful, 非原创 fēi yuán chuàng – unoriginal, 不合理 bù hé lǐ – illogical.
- 这部电影很差/差劲。
zhè bù diàn yǐng hěn chà / chà jìn.
The film was really bad/ awful. - 这家餐厅很糟。
zhè jiā cān tīng hěn zāo.
The restaurant was terrible. - 这个聚会很无聊。
zhè gè jù huì hěn wú liáo.
The party was boring. - 我觉得这本书有可能不是原创的。
wǒ jué dé zhè běn shū yǒu kě néng bù shì yuán chuàng de.
I thought the book was unoriginal. - 我觉得这篇文章很没有逻辑性。
wǒ jué dé zhè piān wén zhāng hěn méi yǒu luó jí xìng.
I found the article really illogical. - 我觉得这首歌很难听。
wǒ jué dé zhè shǒu gē hěn nán tīng.
I think that this song is terrible. - 他/她/这首歌/这个地方我受不了。
tā / tā / zhè shǒu gē / zhè gè dì fāng wǒ shòu bù liǎo.
I can’t stand him/ her/ this song/ this place.
我同意你的观点。wǒ tóng yì nǐ de guān diǎn. I agree with you.
Here are some expressions that you can use to show that you agree or disagree with someone.
- 我和你想的一样。
wǒ hé nǐ xiǎng de yī yàng.
We agree. I agree with you/ that. - 我们的想法不同。
wǒ mén de xiǎng fǎ bù tóng.
We disagree. I don’t agree with you/ that. - 你是对的! 你百分百是对的。
nǐ shì duì de! nǐ bǎi fēn bǎi shì duì de.
You’re right. You’re absolutely right. - 你错了。你肯定是错了。
nǐ cuò liǎo. nǐ kěn dìng shì cuò liǎo.
You’re wrong. You’re totally wrong. - 我对这本书/这部电影的感受和你差不多。
wǒ duì zhè běn shū / zhè bù diàn yǐng de gǎn shòu hé nǐ chà bù duō.
I feel the same way about this book/ film. - 我对这首歌有不同的感觉。/我对这个作者有不同的感受。
wǒ duì zhè shǒu gē yǒu bù tóng de gǎn jué. / wǒ duì zhè gè zuò zhě yǒu bù tóng de gǎn shòu.
I have mixed feelings about this song/ writer. - 对它我的观点和你一致。
duì tā wǒ de guān diǎn hé nǐ yī zhì.
I have the same opinion about it. - 对它我有一个不同的看法。
duì tā wǒ yǒu yī gè bù tóng de kàn fǎ.
I have a different opinion about it.
那就很说得通了。 nà jiù hěn shuō dé tōng liǎo. That makes a lot of sense.
Here are some expressions and vocabulary that you can use if you think someone is making a good point.
- 你提出了一个很好的点。
nǐ tí chū le yī gè hěn hǎo de diǎn.
That’s a really good point. - 那就很说得通了。
nà jiù hěn shuō dé tōng liǎo.
That makes a lot of sense. - 那就很有道理。
na jiù hěn yǒu dào lǐ.
That’s completely logical. - 那就符合你的观点了。
nà jiù fú hé nǐ de guān diǎn le.
That proves your point. - 她举的例子很好。
tā jǔ de lì zǐ hěn hǎo.
She gave really good examples. - 为了他的案子他做了很多调查。
wéi le tā de àn zǐ tā zuò liǎo hěn duō diào chá.
He did a lot of research to support his claim. - 这篇文章/这个面试改变了我的想法。
zhè piān wén zhāng / zhè gè miàn shì gǎi biàn liǎo wǒ de xiǎng fǎ.
The article/ The interview changed my mind. - 你的辩解很有说服力。
nǐ de biàn jiě hěn yǒu shuō fú lì.
That’s very a convincing/ strong argument.
那完全不合理。nà wán quán bù hé lǐ. That makes no sense!
- 那个例子很差。
nà gè lì zǐ hěn chà.
That’s a really bad example. - 那完全不合理。
nà wán quán bù hé lǐ.
That makes no sense. - 那完全不符合逻辑。
nà wán quán bù fú hé luó jí.
That’s totally illogical. - 你说的牛头不对马嘴。
nǐ shuō de niú tóu bù duì mǎ zuǐ.
You’re not proving your point. - 你说的话完全没有依据。
nǐ shuō de huà wán quán méi yǒu yī jù.
You have no examples of what you’re saying. - 你的案子没有任何证据。
nǐ de àn zǐ méi yǒu rèn hé zhèng jù.
There’s no evidence that supports your claim. - 那很荒唐/抽象/傻/荒谬。
nà hěn huāng táng / chōu xiàng / shǎ / huāng miù.
That’s ridiculous/ absurd/ stupid/ idiotic.
