안녕하세요! 제 이름은 도연입니다. 만나서 반가워요! annyeonghaseyo! je ireum-eun doyeon-imnida. mannaseo bangawoyo! My name is Doyeon. I’m a native of Seoul and an instructor of Korean. I really love the joys and challenges of learning new languages. I have taught Korean to a range of learners, including visiting foreign students at my university as well as Americans living in the US who are interested in Korean language and culture.
I was ordained as a Won Buddhist minister in 2007, and I’ve served at the Manhattan Won Buddhist Temple in New York since 2008. I also represent Won Buddhism at the United Nations and am a religious life advisor at both Columbia University and New York University. I graduated from Won Kwang University in Iksan, South Korea, and then I earned an M.A. in Won Buddhist Studies from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
I teach Korean to individual students as well as small groups, and I meet each student with care, patience, and understanding. Learning a language is such a rewarding experience, not just for the student, but also for the teacher. I look forward to meeting you!
