MEET YOUR SWAHILI INSTRUCTOR

Hujambo!  Jina langu ni Divinar. Hello! My name is Divinar, and I teach Swahili. I live in Nairobi, Kenya, where I am a TSC registered teacher with over ten years of experience in teaching, translating, social media marketing and administrative support in British international schools. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Kiswahili and Geography, and I’m currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Swahili and Communication. . I strongly believe that good education shapes not only minds, but also hearts as well. Learning different languages and traditions makes students appreciate culture more deeply, and provides communication and cooperation skills that are incorporated into both present and future lives.

I have been teaching through various online platforms, for instance Zoom, Google Classroom, Class Dojo,  Google Meet, and others. As a native Kiswahili speaker, sharing my love for my language and culture has become my passion.  I am a mother of five girls, including a set of quadruplets. Apart from language and cultural training, I blog about parenting and mental health issues, and give offline talks and presentations in this area.

Kiswahili is a rich and interesting language, and I would love to introduce you to it. If you’d like to learn Kiswahili, please request a consultation and enroll in a trial lesson so we can work together. Asante! Thank you!
