Let’s start with some of the basics. If you want to talk about music, you’ll want to know how to say: das Lied, -er / der Song, -s song, der Sänger, -Ø / die Sängerin, -nen singer, die Gruppe, -n / die Band, -s group/band, das Album, die Alben album, der Text, -e lyrics, das Radio, -s radio, das Musikvideo, -s music video, sich (Dat.) Musik anhören to listen to music, singen to sing, tanzen to dance.

People have all sorts of different taste in music. What kind of music do you like? You will also need to know the verb (ein Instrument) spielen to play (a musical instrument).
