¿Estás de acuerdo? Do you agree? Giving Opinions, Agreeing, and Disagreeing in Spanish
In this post we’ll learn how to give opinions in Spanish. That means that we’ll cover some Spanish vocabulary and expressions that you can use to express your opinion, ask about other people’s opinions, agree, or disagree with someone. First we’ll look learn some expressions that you can use to ask others for their opinions. Then we’ll learn how to say that you like something. Next, we’ll look at expressions you can use to say that you don’t like something. After that we’ll see expressions for agreeing and disagreeing. Finally, we’ll end with ways to say that you think someone is making a good point, or not such a good point.

Let’s start with some questions that you can ask to find out other people’s opinions.

Now let’s look at some expressions that you can use to express that you like something. Some vocabulary that might come in handy is: muy bueno, muy buena; buenísimo, buenísima – really good, genial; estupendo, estupenda – great, interesante – interesting, fascinante – fascinating, muy agradable – very enjoyable, original – original, lógico, lógica – logical.
- La película fue muy buena/estupenda.
The film was really good/ great. - El restaurante fue maravilloso/fantástico.
The restaurant was wonderful/ fantastic. - La/Lo pasé genial en la fiesta.
I had a great time at the party. - El libro me pareció fascinante.
I thought the book was fascinating. - El artículo me pareció muy interesante.
I found the article really interesting. - Esta canción me parece muy buena.
Creo que esta canción es muy buena.
I think that this song is really good.
En realidad la película no me gustó para nada. I really didn’t like the film at all.
Now let’s look at some expressions that you can use to express that you don’t like something. Some vocabulary that might come in handy is: muy malo, muy mala; malísimo, malísima – really bad, terrible – terrible, aburrido, aburida – boring, horrible – awful, poco original – unoriginal, ilógico, ilógica – illogical.
- La película fue muy mala/horrible.
The film was really bad/ awful. - El restaurante estuvo terrible.
The restaurant was terrible. - La fiesta fue aburrida.
The party was boring. - El libro me pareció poco original.
El libro no me pareció original.
I thought the book was unoriginal. - El artículo me parece realmente ilógico.
Este artículo me resulta realmente ilógico.
I found the article really illogical. - Esta canción me parece terrible.
Creo que esta canción es terrible.
I think that this song is terrible. - No lo soporto. (a él) / No la soporto. (a ella)
I can’t stand him/ her. - No soporto esta canción/este lugar.

Estoy de acuerdo contigo/con usted. I agree with you.
Here are some expressions that you can use to show that you agree or disagree with someone.
- Estamos de acuerdo. Estoy de acuerdo contigo/con eso.
We agree. I agree with you/ that. - Estamos en desacuerdo. No estoy de acuerdo contigo/con usted/con eso.
We disagree. I don’t agree with you/ that. - Tienes razón. Tienes toda la razón.
Tiene razón. Tiene toda la razón.
You’re right. You’re absolutely right. - Te equivocas. Estás totalmente equivocado/equivocada.
Se equivoca. Está totalmente equivocado/equivocada.
You’re wrong. You’re totally wrong. - Me pasa lo mismo con este libro/esta película.
Tengo la misma opinión/impresión de ese libro/esa película.
I feel the same way about this book/ film. - No me pasa lo mismo con esa canción/escritor/escritora.
Tengo una opinión/impresión diferente de esa canción/ese escritor/esa escritora.
I feel differently about this song/ writer. - Tengo la misma opinión sobre eso.

Here are some expressions and vocabulary that you can use if you think someone is making a good point.
- Ese es un muy buen punto.
That’s a really good point. - Eso tiene mucho sentido.
That makes a lot of sense. - Eso es completamente lógico.
That’s completely logical. - Eso demuestra tu/su punto/opinión.
That proves your point/ opinion. - Ella dio ejemplos muy buenos.
She gave really good examples. - Él investigó mucho para respaldar su afirmación.
He did a lot of research to support his claim. - El artículo/La entrevista me hizo cambiar de opinión.
The article/ The interview changed my mind. - Ese es un argumento muy convincente/sólido.
