Most people enjoy certain kinds of films more than others. Let’s look at how to talk about movie genres, which ones you like, and which ones you don’t.

I’m not in the mood for a serious movie. - Я не хочу смотреть страшный фильм.

I want to watch something uplifting.

В кино At the Cinema
Here’s some vocabulary for when you finally get to the cinema to see the movie.
- Я купил билеты онлайн.
I bought tickets online. - Придётся покупать билеты в кинотеатре.
We have to buy tickets at the cinema. - Ух ты, какие дорогие билеты в кино!
Wow, movie tickets are expensive! - У нас отличные места.
We have great seats. - У нас ужасные места.
We have awful seats. - Я прекрасно вижу!
I can see perfectly! - Я ничего не вижу! Этот парень закрывает мне обзор.
I can’t see a thing! This guy is blocking my view. - Мне хочется попкорна.
I feel like getting some popcorn. - Эти люди слишком громко говорят!
Those people are talking too loud! - В кинотеатре слишком много людей.
The cinema is too crowded. - Тихо! Фильм начинается.
Be quiet! The movie’s starting. - Мне нужно в туалет, но я не хочу ничего пропустить!
I have to go to the bathroom but I don’t want to miss anything!
Давай(те) посмотрим фильм дома. Let’s watch the movie at home.
For many people, watching movies at home is easier and more enjoyable.
- Давай(те) посмотрим фильм сегодня вечером.
Let’s watch a movie tonight. - Слишком большой выбор фильмов.
There are too many movies to choose from. - Мне не хочется смотреть этот фильм. Как насчёт этого?
I don’t feel like watching that movie. How about this one? - Где пульт управления?
Where’s the remote control? - Поставь на паузу! Мне нужно сходить в туалет.
Pause it! I have to go to the bathroom. - Перемотай назад! Что она сказала?
Rewind! What did she say?
Мне очень понравился этот фильм. I loved that movie.
Hopefully you really liked what you saw. If so, you may want to say this.
- Отличный / фантастический / замечательный фильм.
The movie was great/fantastic/wonderful. - Хорошая игра актёров.
The acting was really good. - Сюжет оригинален.
The plot was original. - Это было очень динамично и интересно.
It was very fast-paced and exciting. - Мне очень понравился главный герой.
I loved the main character. - Очень красивые съёмки.
The filming was beautiful. - Был неожиданный поворот сюжета.
There was a surprising plot twist. - Я бы снова посмотрел этот фильм.
I would see that movie again. - Я очень рекомендую, вы должны посмотреть это!
I highly recommend it, you should see it!
Мне очень не понравился этот фильм. I hated that movie.
But of course, lots of movies are complete duds.
- Плохой/ужасный фильм.
The movie was terrible/awful. - Плохая игра актёров.
The acting was really bad. - Сюжет не оригинален.
The plot was unoriginal. - Фильм развивался очень медленно и скучно.
It was very slow and boring. - Мне не понравился главный герой.
I didn’t like the main character. - Плохие съёмки.
The filming was bad. - Сюжет был абсолютно предсказуем.
The plot was completely predictable. - Этот фильм был пустой тратой времени и денег!
That movie was a waste of time and money! - Не смотрите этот фильм, он вам не понравится.
