El Cielo: The sky
Let’s start with some basic vocabulary.
- el sol sun
- la nube cloud
- el cielo sky
- el viento wind
- la lluvia rain
- la nieve snow
- la tormenta storm
- el trueno thunder
- el rayo lightning
¿Cómo está el tiempo? What’s the weather like?
Here are some basic expressions that you can use to describe typical weather.
- ¿Cómo está el tiempo hoy/esta semana?
What’s the weather like today/this weekend? - Hace un bonito día.
It’s a beautiful day. - Hace sol./Está soleado.
It’s sunny. - Hace calor.
It’s hot. - Hace frío.
It’s cold. - Está nublado.
It’s cloudy. - Hace viento.
It’s windy. - Está lloviendo.
It’s raining. - Está nevando.
It’s snowing. - Hay una tormenta.
There’s a storm. - Está húmedo.
It’s humid.
Hace mucho calor. It’s too hot!
- Hace mucho calor hoy.
It’s too hot today. - Hay mucha humedad.
It’s very humid. - Estoy sudando.
I’m sweating. - ¡Enciende el aire acondicionado!
Put the air-conditioner on! - Me encanta/Me gusta mucho el tiempo cálido.
I love/really like warm weather.
Hace mucho frío afuera. It’s Cold Outside!
- Hace frío.
It’s cold. - Está helando.
It’s freezing! - Está nevando.
It’s snowing. - Está cayendo aguanieve.
It’s sleeting. - Esta semana habrá una tormenta de nieve.
We’re going to have a blizzard this week. - Hace frío y viento.
It’s cold and windy. - Tengo escalofrío. / Estoy temblando de frío.
I’m shivering! - Me encanta/Me gusta mucho la nieve.
I love/really like the snow.
